The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over ninety years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance, unites body and mind and creates a more streamlined shape. Pilates is an art form, similar to Martial Arts, in that it must be worked to perfection on a daily basis. It is a physical science. A technique so precise and so concentrated that its results will stay with you forever.

In the time that I have been teaching Pilates I have experienced that the incentive to be dedicated to your Pilates and ensure that you train as often as you possibly can is due to the increase in self esteem, better health and longevity. It is an exercise regime that is most enjoyable, where you are able to leave the troubles of day to day life outside the gym door and focus on your routine leaving you feeling invigorated and rejuvenated.

Pilates requires mental focus that forces your muscles to respond. Instead of just performing monotonous and reflexive repetitions, you will execute a number of movements with the goal on perfection.

What to expect in class

You will learn a series of exercises that will work the entire body from top to bottom. You will work rigorously, with no impact on your joints.  You will strengthen and stretch your body during every exercise, rotating positions from lying to sitting to kneeling. Mind-body focus as you exercise, this will develop an increased awareness of your body. I believe in using allot of imagery (a way to improve your precision and drive your concentration) as I explain how your body should react to the movement, these are sometimes humorous adding to the fun element and experience of training with me. There is nothing as satisfying as watching how your body changes as it gets stronger and leaner. The workouts are an hour in duration but expect the time to fly by.

The benefits of Pilates depend solely on your performing the exercises exactly according to the instructions.  With regular practice your body will begin to change from the inside out
